Life Story: Part Two

Where would I start? I'm no director or artist, so I probably wouldn't start from the end. I would probably start chronologically. From beginning to end. Tidiness is attractive to me; no unnecessary frills to divert attention away from the main attraction, my life story. Taking a story and flipping it around doesn't always make it better. It just makes the story backwards. It doesn't hide the fact that someone's life is extremely boring.

However, my story would probably bore the daylights of my audience, so I might start with something interesting, perhaps a life changing event. One sticks out on my mind, my eight grade election to student council (for ninth grade). The only reason I even chose to run was because my fellow TA was. I wrote a speech, going online and taking some -- ahem -- pointers from some excellent speeches online. Two weeks of honing my speech to perfection. Then, two more practicing it in my head, day and night.

On the day of the speeches, I was the most nervous I had ever been in my life. My knees were shaking from the moment I woke up. I practiced one more time. I got on the bus. I went to first period. Then to the assembly. I was fourth to speak.

I would have to say that event altered my life forever. Without leadership, I probably wouldn't be as involved, or as motivated to be active at school. I gave me lots of opportunities to use my talents, learn from my experiences, and make new friends. Sounds like a decent place to start.
