Exceptionalism
Exceptionalism is a philosophy of life. The overarching idea of this philosophy is success. The point of life is to be exceptional, which is defined by a person's world views. It is similar to the idea of the American Dream, succeeding in life by working hard and reaching your goals. However, exceptionalism goes beyond that, one should reach for the stars and not settle for anything less.
1. More
You will never get enough.
2. Always aim for the stars
I would much rather aim for the stars and miss than aim for the gutter and make it.
3. Work hard for the stars
You still have to work. Aiming for something won't get you anywhere unless you do something about it.
4. Failure is temporary
Failure is temporary. Just because they rejected you the first time doesn't mean you'll get rejected the second time, if you improve. It allows to to learn from your mistakes.
5. There is enough time to rest when you're dead
Go the distance, pleasure now means pain later.
6. Everything is relative. Especially criticism. There is a fine line between belief and insanity.
The only thing that matters is what you think. Most of the time. Sometimes what you think can be very wrong, but don't admit it.
7. Haters gonna' hate.
Sort of deals with previous statement. There are going to be a lot of people who don't like you. Don't let them bring you down.
It sounds a like self improvement/motivational way of thought. I guess this philosophy stems from the question I ask myself sometimes: why doesn't everyone be the best they can be? Why can't a nurse train to be a doctor, why does anyone aim for something better in life? I'm sure some people have perfectly legitimate answers, but I try to hold myself to this philosophy, even if I don't try my hardest sometimes.
